THE CHURCH OF CHRIST THE KING

Christ in you - His Kingdom in the world

EASTER FRIDAY

Noticed in The Age today that far fewer Christians abide by a fish only no-meat Easter Friday. I’m glad. Some might see such things as an observance. Others might describe such practices as a humbug. Call it what you will. Such things have no effect on the quality of our life as Believers. They may even dull it. Don’t let religion spoil your life. You don’t have to. When Christ is your life, full stop, the expression of you as a human being can only get better. Better because Christ in us is life itself. Just as Jesus was the manifestation of life so can you be life as John and Jean.

Of Jesus it was said that ‘In Him is life and that life is the light of all humanity.’ Those for whom Jesus is life are the same. He lives in them, manifests through them and they shed abroad His life and His light. By living a pure Jesus’ life – a fellowship undiluted by religion and religious externalities – we are able to minister this life. Our words can be spirit and life in the mode of Jesus.

There is no spirit and life in anything that is not God Himself. Life is God, came from God and is God in in you. There’s a word for attempting to draw life from things that are not God: idolatry.

INHERITANCE

We’re all united to God, but only some of us know it. Jesus knew He was God’s Son. Nothing would deter Him from living in this fact. He and Father were one. Because of Jesus, this unity is yours. You have it now. No need to work for it. Work from it. Be the fruit of this reality. As meaningful as Easter can be - there is no spirit and life inherent in the celebration. Easter is a sign of what is, of what is already yours: A life in the Resurrection Person who is active in you. You can have an Easter Life. It’s your everyday reality and your inheritance. Ensure that it is your possession.

You cannot create your union with God; it is objectively already given to you. The only difference between religious people and Kingdom people is that the latter are consciously drawing upon this union and the former are not. Don’t live a hybrid life - a life of bits of religion and bits of God or bits of law and bits of the Spirit. The Kingdom is all of the Spirit of Christ plus nothing. When you step into the reality of Christ as you, you get the trinity as you as well!

PURE IN HEART

Those who are drawing life from God who is in them are always better off than they who are trying to extract life from usages outside them. These attachments dull and stymy His presence.

Purity in the Kingdom sense means undiluted union with God. Satan soiled this union in the garden of Eden by precipitating Adam into seeking affinity with God by acquiring additives of his own in his own way. Adam was deceived into separation. In this state of un-being people seek to gain the union they have lost by grasping at rites and usages. Since the cross union with God is once again ours. Separation was undone at the cross and we have the comfort and joy of oneness with God. Your life is not diluted when Christ is your life. You are growing in fullness as a human and as son/daughter.

DIVIDED HEART/DIVIDED US

Should we attempt to serve two masters - the old covenant and the new, the law and the Spirit, our union with God will be dulled and our light will be confused. Unless we are willing to forsake all our substitutes, fullness of spirit and life will not be ours. Should we attempt to interpret the new testament through the law, we will craft ourselves a lesser Jesus and a distorted gospel. Reading the Bible through religious glasses will shrink our minds and garble what could have been our new creation life.

ROCKS AND STONES

For example the parable of the sower is not about various attempts at Christian overcoming. This story is less about materialism and private sin and all about watered down ‘other gospels’ of the kind referred to by Paul.

The inferior soils, rocks and stolen seeds lead to inferior states of being caused by embracing garbled gospels. Rocks and stones are examples of refusal to embrace the truth that Christ Himself is our life. Weeds are the result of our obstinate resistance to the truth that we are alive and flourishing as an expression of Jesus. Weeds are the tares Jesus mentions in the next parable. Weeds are what we are when we are not the expression of His life because religion and not Jesus is our life. We have a choice that is based on our decision to believe the truth over cunningly invented fables. We are alive and flourishing when we live in the union that is already ours. We are alive in spirit and life because Jesus The Seed has rooted us in God. One with God our being is safe and we are positioned to flourish in the soil of the trinity where we multiply life in abundance.

ROOTED IN GOD

‘I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples’ John 15.5-8 NIV.

Don’t be among those who go down to their graves as the promoters of a hobbled gospel, unaware that what they gave their lives to, was largely a delusion. Sure, we will go to be with the Lord. But who needs to deplete their life living from a garbled gospel and lesser soils, when we could have been alive everyday in the prolific effect of God’s Spirit and Life.
