Christ in you - His Kingdom in the world

Jesus does not want us to be religious about His Cross. He wants us to participate in His life. The mystery and miracle of the new testament age is Christ Himself as our life. By the Spirit. The authority and power of His church is that it is Jesus manifest as us!

Easter is more than about the cross. In Jesus’ cross out Adamic self was put to death. In Jesus our real self rises to reign as a son/daughter of God. In Jesus we died to the law, the flesh and the tree. In Jesus we rose to life in the Spirit. Now alive in the Spirit of Jesus we are righteousness and life. We are sons alive and activated in the spirit of sonship because the very presence of Jesus lives in our bodies.

‘This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God’ 1 John 4.2

Christianity is not only about the cross. Father and Holy Spirit are not wringing their hands about the cross. The cross is not their obsession. Neither need it be ours. The cross began the new and living way; the ingenious way in which God in Jesus would fully unite us with Himself.

‘He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit’ Titus 3,5 NIV.

In Jesus we are constantly renewed by Holy Spirit who mediates to us Jesus’ life and grace. In Jesus we are sons because we are transfused with the spirit of sonship.

The cross is the door to our new covenant life. It is a huge bounty of grace but it need not be the focus of our attention. The Big Deal of the post cross age is CHRIST IN YOU. This indwelling is the trinity in us by the Spirit. It is the fruit of the resurrection and the effect of Pentecost. Jesus teaching, His cross and resurrection are ours. But more than this, His life is ours. CHRIST IS YOUR LIFE!

‘For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your
life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory’ Col 3.3,4 NIV.

So what are we saying. We declare that Christ is totally our life as individuals and as the church. We are saying in that in this new and living way, God’s glory is revealed in you and your glory as yourself is being uncovered. In this new and living way Jesus is our life individually, as the church and as new creation society.

‘Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision [nor any observance] means anything; what counts is the new creation’ Gal 6.15 NIV. New creation comes from the active living of the resurrected Jesus in you!

When we rejoice that Christ has risen we are exulting in the fact that his resurrection is our resurrection and the new genesis of the world has come in our person, family and church. Sure, all this has come to us through the cross. But the cross is the start. The end-point is the incarnation and the result is you as the manifestation of our Father.

The religious man thinks Jesus has come to help him live to law and principle. The semi-religious man tries to ‘Keep close to Jesus.’ In contrast, the spiritual man – the son in spirit and truth IS JESUS’ LIFE. This is the meaning of Easter – rebirth, not into a new version of the knowledge of good and evil but into a life not your own that is your own! The spiritual woman is alive in Christs resurrection and person. Christ is her life. All that Christ is, is hers and more. Jesus is manifest as Jim and Mary. You have been resurrected with Jesus this Easter.
