Christ in you - His Kingdom in the world

Jesus told us to heal the sick, raise the dead and cast out demons to show that the Kingdom of God is among us. This was the restoration of the dispossessed to their rightful kingship. Kingship - also known as the spirit of sonship - results from the healing of the rift. This is our healing by the annulment of our separation from God in Jesus. The atonement and its nature in spirit and in truth is the foundational healing of the human race. We are made one with God and God one with us.

‘Emphasis upon the vicarious humanity of Christ and the fact that we are saved through his life as well as his death, has troubled many evangelicals. They mistakenly believe that speaking of Christ's vicarious humanity detracts from what took place on the cross. The very reverse is the case. By speaking of Jesus' vicarious humanity we are actually magnifying what Christ did in
reconciling us to God.’

The intensity of our healing is seen in Jesus urging is to take on what He accomplished for us at the cross: ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. In realising this we are healed. In ignoring it we are not. Jesus healing and setting free was a demonstration of the life and wellness that is His Kingdom.

Truth heals. Lies bind. By coming among us Jesus undid the lying narrative purveyed by Satan. He undid it with Himself. Jesus revealed the truth about Father, the truth of Himself as Savior and the truth of us as sons and daughters of God. Jesus revealed the new and living way – that Way that is Him as the way to our Father.

The fullness of the Spirit, known as ‘the Spirit without limit,’ which is what Jesus had, was the result of one fact. He and His Father were one. Jesus lived in a pre-fall status and hauled this oneness with God into our fallen realm, undoing the fall from within.

As a result, not only are you healed. Creation is healed.

Jesus had the Spirit without limit because He and His Father were one. This is the basis of the spirit-life of God. It is the source of His authority in us. Through the cross, Jesus
destroyed separation from within. When He called out, ‘IT IS FINISHED!’ The fall was undone, over, kaput and neutralised. You have the union with God that Jesus had. This union is your inheritance in the new covenant. It’s yours because Christ is in all things your life.

Your healing in this is that you are a son – in spirit and in truth. Unhealed in mere religion or in a distorted gospel we are mere workers and slaves. This is Paul’s warning in Galatians.

The attempt to deploy the gifts and be spirit-filled in an old covenant mindset is greatly misguided. Misguided because it cannot operate properly out of a fallen state of separation. So don’t leave your new covenant inheritance in the ground and obsess about Holy Spirit and the gifts. In isolation from the union that is yours they will fade or worse - they be diluted and distorted into witchcraft.

Descartes inadvertently uncovered a truth when he made his famous statement, ‘I think therefore I am.’ The implications as psychologists and sociologists know is that we become what we think we are. This is why we need to know the real Christ, His authentic gospel and who we have become as a result of the successful completion of the divine conspiracy.

So don’t live from the law and old covenant when Christ is your life and His Spirit has come to be in your flesh and manifest as you! You will negate what is yours. The attempt to be Spirit-filled independently of our new covenant union with God is like ‘Doing the Fall plus miracles.’ Don’t perpetuate the fall with retrograde gospels and revisionist theologies. Signs are not the solution to this, or gifts. But the cross is the starting place. Here the fall is undone and we are made one with God. Miracles of healing always lead to the cross and our interwoveness with God.

“I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV.
