THE DOOR OF CHANGE
How do you react to change? Change is frequently the door to new life. Do you embrace change? When you receive a word or prophecy from the Lord do you ignore it or set about to minimizes its application to your setting and beliefs? Do you seek to weld it on to your old truck or embrace it entirely as what it is – a thing in itself with the promise of revolutionary life? The life of Jesus is radically new. Un-trammeled by any of the well-accepted versions of death, it is life itself. This may be a problem for you if you draw your life from familiar identities and cherished views. The thing is, is Jesus more important to you than these cherished views?
There’s nothing conservative about the Kingdom of God. Everything about it is radical. This is because it does not bow to culture or take its shape from the a priori assumptions of religion. The reason for this is that the King of the Kingdom is un-contained life itself. He began life and defines it. As the new creation He is the order of the universe. He is the new creation.
‘He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself’ 1 John 1.1,2 NLT.
Jesus is life without limit and had the Spirit without limit. Today He gives the adventurous the Spirit without limit. A reading of Hebrews reveals that it was the Son who created the worlds. Thus Jesus not only forms reality. He holds it together.
‘He is before all things, and in him all things hold together’ Col 1.17 NIV.
PLUMB OR PRUNE?
Is your reality Jesus or the usages, the idioms, the clichéd and outdate perspectives you cling to because you think they give you a certain status and a degree of life? Are you living from a scarcely concealed pride in your tradition? What if the truth you think you have is a fable? What if what you think is Christ is a false christ? What if the house you call ‘my beliefs’ was built by a trickster?
Is Christ and His fullness your life? Is it time you did something about the institutionally respected but now irrelevant perspectives you rely on. Is it time for you to begin to draw your life and vision from what Jesus did at the cross and what He is doing now? Are you willing to leave off your attachment to Adam and live in Jesus? Do you understand that institutions are a manifestation of the letter while the Kingdom of heaven is the exhibition of the Spirit of Christ?
REFUGE OF LIES
The Kingdom of God is not dependent on any prior order. Jesus is that order. This is why we are not wise to try to fit Him to our existing order when He is the new creation in person. If it is not wise to add him as an addendum to our status quo it is foolishness to habitually dilute prophetic words because we think we need a minimalist stance; a minimalism designed to avoid disturbing the comfort and security we find in the things we customarily draw about ourselves for identity and security. Groups like this can wane and fade while being unaware that they no longer are. Yet this is not so amazing. When we resist life we take refuge in a lie and embrace blindness and death.
Have you made any genuine spiritual advance in the last ten years? Are you muddling along in the old covenant drawing ‘life’ from ‘your perspectives?’ Life and truth need no props. Light dispels darkness and life dispels death. Jesus is life itself. The question is, ‘Is He your life?’
‘This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin’ 1 John 5-7 NLT.
